Ham and Cheese Chowder

2 cups potatoes(cubed)
1 cup chopped onions
3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
3 cups milk
1 1/2 cups ham, chopped
1 1/2 cups(6 oz.)shredded cheddar cheese
dash of pepper.

Cook cubed potatoes in 1/2 cup water til tender. Drain and reserve water. Add enough water to make 1 cup. Cook onion in butter, stir in flour and pepper. Add milk and potato water. Cook and stir until bubbly. Add ham, potatoes and cheese. Heat til cheese melts. Serve.

This soup feels good in the tummy on a cold winter day. :-)
