Swedish Applecake Recipe

Brown 12 oz. dark bread crumbs in 4 oz. of butter. Fill a oven proof dish with alternate layers of bread, 2-3 tablespoons brown sugar and 1/2 pint applesauce. The layer on top must be bread crumbs. Bake at 400' for 20 minutes. Serve with vanilla sauce or ice cream.

Vanilla Sauce:
Beat together 3 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1-1/2 tablespoons vanilla until they form a light fluffy mixture. Whip a 1/2 pint thick cream and add to sauce. Serves 4
