The Best and Very Easy Dill Refrigerator Pickles Recipe In a 4 quart bowl layer as: (I used a ice cream bucket) 2 layers skin on 1/4" sliced cucumbers 1 layer sliced raw onion 1 thin layer dill (seed or fresh) Sprinkle some fresh garlic Repeat this process until bowl is full Cook to boil as followed: 4 cups sugar 4 cups white vinegar 2 cups water (I buy spring water for these) 1/2 cup pickling salt Pour boiling liquid over all, let sit on counter, covered, for at least 24 hrs. Then, put in frigerator, ready to eat in couple of days. Tip: Smaller cucumbers fresh from the garden make nice bite size pickles. Using fresh dill is best I think.
